Good evening! Today was an icy cold day, rain until Richmond, a weak sun until Colesberg, where I arrived at sunset, and a stormy wind from Beaufort West that tried to sweep everything off the road.

This sign at Matjiesfontein brought a smile to my frozen face: Was there, done that!

Laingsburg this morning: Who will ever forget that fatal day, 25 January 1981, when the Buffels River in flood destroyed the whole town except 21 houses and left 106 people dead.

Late afternoon: For the first time sunshine, even if without any heat. It reminded me of another late afternoon three months ago when it was bloody hot and I so alone.

Do you still remember this photograph? It was taken in North Kenya in the desert.
