Donderdag 29 November

Begin: Keetmanshoop
Eindpunt: Windhoek

In SA slaap ek redelik min.

Nou weet ek hoekom.

Groete!

I am going to neglect the English section today. Sorry guys!

Today the riding was quite easy after the heat of the yesterday. I had a strong headwind the last two days. As a result of that the fuel consumption of the bike was quite high. That would be interesting next week on the Trans Kalahari Highway when over a distance of 800km there is only one village with a petrol pump. I have to get to Kang to fill up for the rest of the way. I look forward to spending one night somewhere under the stars in the Kalahari!

I took only a few photographs, of which I would like to share two with you.

Photo 1: A group of Kindergarten children on their way to somewhere. They were so joyful and waved to all the people. Can you imagine what police in Europe would do should they see something like that?

Photo 2: Arrival in Windhoek with the Reiterdenkmal in the background.

I couldn't get internet access at all. Will try again in Windhoek tomorrow (Friday).

Hey Lodie!

It sounds like you need a care package from the States with my favorite lip balm - if there's one thing I detest, it's when my lips are chapped and feeling raw - and Carmex is the cure!

I can't believe the picture with the small children in the truck! The only time I see anything like that here is during a parade. I can't imagine how large the ticket would be from the police otherwise.
It's amazing what is normal for some cultures and isn't for others.

I hope your trip is going well. I'd love to have some of that hot weather you speak of - it was very cold here today - only 19 degrees! YUCKO!

The closest I've ever been to the Kalahari is in The Wisconsin Dells. It's an indoor water park called The Kalahari Resort Wisconsin Dells. It's all desert themed - you should check out the webpage for fun and see how it compares to the real thing!

I will probably not be updating my blog much this weekend or the beginning of next week. My Father-in-Law was diagnosed with lung cancer and is having his entire left lung removed next Tuesday. If you smoke....please try and quit....this is such a sad thing to see! Life is too short to die from smoking.

On a lighter note, I'm glad you enjoy reading about my goofy life. It's not as adventurous as it once was, or as your is now, but it's still amazing!

I shoot with an older camera. It's a simple Kodak Easy Share DX6490 with a 10x zoom and only 4.0 mp, but allows me to shoot manually. It's so easy that I've never even read the directions! I'd like to upgrade and have my eye on a nice Canon that I hope to get for Christmas!

Blow a kiss to the Kalahari for me!
