Vanmiddag in Kaapstad weer dieselfde. Motors sonder einde op oorlaaide snelweë. My fiets (en ek) voel ons ontuis in sulke stedelike gebiede.

More oggend draai ek noord.

I am sick and tired of long lines of cars, traffic jams and lane splitting.

After my bike was serviced on Friday I had to go to Johannesburg. Three lanes of cars. From Johannesburg CBD I had to go via Roodepoort and Krugersdorp to Ventersdorp. Again traffic jams and cars, cars. This afternoon in Cape Town the same. Traffic jams on the N2, highways not capable of handling so much traffic. My bike and myself do not feel at home in cities.

Tomorrow I turn the bike north, from Cape Town to Namaqualand. I look forward to the wide plains stretching on endless over far horizons. I hope that I can upload a beautiful photograph tomorrow evening of where I belong, on the countryside far away from the hustle and bustle of the cities.
