Nog 'n spreuk voor die reis

Hi Lodie!

Thank you so much for your warm felt condolences, each day is getting a bit easier. To help, I rearranged my entire house - well, not the house itself, but the furniture in it. It was a good way to keep my mind off him not being here and change things up a bit. I am sorry to hear about your cat - we have two and are close to them also. Did yours ride on your motorcycle with you? It’s funny how are animals really do become a family member.

I enjoyed reading through your blog - well, what I could of it. I know a handful of Finnish slang and curse words, (thanks to my Grandparents), and enough Spanish to get me through dinner at a Mexican restaurant, but that’s about it. I really do need to learn more languages. I particularly liked the quotes in your blog - especially the one about starting to do what you have to, then doing what is possible, then you are doing the impossible.

I backpacked across Europe about 15 years ago and loved it - Prague was my favorite! Americans need to take more holidays than they do…they work too much and don’t know how to enjoy life. Money, money, money, that’s so much the mind-frame, all to buy things to impress people they don’t even know. I am an American, but not that kind.

I grew up an Army brat and was always amazed at the people I met as we traveled who had never been out of their city or even explored their state - it baffled me. Even after my family was no longer active duty, I still continued traveling the states, and have been to all but eleven, working and living in the ones I liked, them moving on; culture keeps the mind sharp. The next places I’d like to go are New Zealand and Cairo, Egypt - I have friends living in both places, making it easier to visit.

Take care!
